Random Thought Of The Day

Random Thoughts of the Day: 1/19

  • Rick Perry has ended his bid for the Republican presidential nomination. Well, this sucks.  Now who’s going to kick the gays out of the military and put God back in our schools?
  • Snooki (what a dumb name) posted a picture of herself on Twitter without her (gasp!) makeup.  And guess what, she looks (like most women) infinitely better that way.
  • Apparently Rob Lowe couldn’t stand how irrelevant he has become, because yesterday he tweeted that Peyton Manning would announce his retirement yesterday. Manning’s agent and Colts owner Jim Irsay immediately refuted Lowe’s asinine proclamation.  Irsay actually went a step further by tweeting:  “My sources tell me Rob will star in an epic remake of ‘Deep Throat’ with aging porn stars and 4 finger circus clowns!”  Well played, Mr. Irsay.  Well played.
  • AT&T announced it would be raising the price of their data plans next week, prompting a public outcry (at least in the comments of this article) with many announcing that they would be leaving AT&T due to this increase.  Perhaps these idiots can’t read or just have ADD, but the article expressly points out that the price hike is for new customers only.  Now what were we talking about?
  • I like Mark Wahlberg, but his insensitive, idiotic, and nonsensical assertion that were he on one of the 9/11 planes “it wouldn’t have went down like it did” was a grossly irresponsible thing to utter.  Diarrhea of the mouth is a terrible, terrible illness.
  • Everyone has surely heard about the Italian cruise liner that ran ashore, toppled over, and killed a handful of its passengers.  A couple of days ago a recording was released of the Italian coast guard ordering the captain, who had left the ship via lifeboat, back onto the boat to coordinate the rescue efforts.  He didn’t refuse the order, but he didn’t comply either.  Well, he has now explained how he allegedly ended up in the lifeboat.  He tripped.  That’s right, tripped.  He claims that because of the tilt of the cruise ship he slid into the lifeboat after tripping.  Perhaps this little tidbit escaped his ill-conceived story, but any lifeboats still attached to the ship at that point would have been under water.  I truly hope this idiot spends the rest of his days in a prison cell with pictures on the wall of every person who died just so he could wave to his family.
  • It appears that lawmakers received the intended message from yesterday’s blackout by such sites as Wikipedia, Google, WordPress, and others.  They are quickly withdrawing support for SOPA.  Gotta love election year.
  • TSA in Dallas, Texas failed to prevent a .38 caliber hand gun in an elderly woman’s purse from being brought aboard a plane.  I’m so glad that such a thoroughly astute, observant, and competent group such as the TSA is protecting U.S. citizens and totally making going through security a 2 hour ordeal worth it.
  • Terrell Owens, whose NFL career appears to be over, is still grasping for anything to keep him in the game.  And so he signed with the Allen Wranglers of the IFL. I’ll be sure to have my popcorn ready. . .to watch something else.
